School Direct Training Programme
The Colchester Teacher Training Consortium tuition fees for the academic year 2017/18 are £8,500 for Secondary and £9,000 for Primary. We will be able to offer the PGCE at both Professional and Post Graduate level. The Post Graduate level leads to 60 credits towards a Master’s degree.
Bursaries are available to trainees on the School Direct Training Programme (tuition fee) route and are based on the subject you are training in and your degree class.

Bursary payments are tax-free for full-time students and are made in 10 equal monthly instalments (on the 5th working day of the month from October to July), Bursaries are paid directly through the Colchester Teacher Training Consortium. For bursaries of £15,000 and over trainees will receive 10 equal monthly instalments for the duration of the course and two enhanced payments, these are paid in the Spring Term and at the end ot the course. Trainees need to be on the course to receive the enhanced payments.
Grants & Loans
Trainees can also apply for Student Finance including a Tuition Fee Loan. Loans are repayable once trainees are earning in excess of £21,000. Please see the Student Finance website for further details at: https://www.gov.uk/student-finance
Trainees can fund their training either by:
- Applying for a tuition fee loan from Student Finance which is paid directly to us.
- Payment by 3 equal instalments from personal funds or the bursary.
