Colchester Teacher Training Consortium (CTTC) is an Ofsted Outstanding Initial Teacher Training provider. We are a Consortium working in close partnership with schools in Essex and Suffolk to provide an outstanding training programme to primary and secondary trainee teachers.
Our goal is to equip our trainees with the skills and knowledge for a rewarding career in education. At the heart of CTTC is the profound belief that every individual brings something unique and valuable to the profession. As a result, our strength lies in training teachers from every background, from different walks of life and with disparate life-paths.
Our strong partnership of over 60 schools and colleges provides diversity and choice for trainees. Our training hubs are in Colchester and Ipswich to serve the local schools. Our schools offer trainees a wide range of educational experiences including grammar schools, sixth form colleges, specialist SEND schools, residential schools, and therapeutic centres.
We are delighted you are considering training with CTTC and hope you find the information you need on our website. If you have any additional questions or would like to find out more, please contact us and our friendly team will be happy to help. We look forward to hearing from you and receiving your application.
Why Choose CTTC?
Outstanding Teacher Training
CTTC is graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.
Centre Based Training
Training is delivered weekly in our bespoke centre and is face-to-face, allowing trainees to interact with other trainees and CTTC staff.
Annual statistics show that CTTC trainees are highly valued by local schools and the percentage of trainees securing ECT positions is consistently very high.
CTTC staff are current and previously practicing teachers, senior leaders and headteachers.
Evaluations show our trainees and school rate us highly in all areas.
Primary trainees receive weekly subject sessions to cover all 14 National Curriculum subject areas and secondary trainees receive intense, weekly subject specialist training.
All trainees are provided with access to wellbeing services throughout their training.
Our curriculum is fully underpinned by appropriate research and meets, and goes beyond, the requirements of the Core Content Framework.
Our Trainees Say...
“I felt really supported by the CTTC team. Whole team was warm and supported me all the way through, whether it was guidance from tutors or mentors, everyone was always there to guide and help. At no point during the course have I felt unsupported or unable to ask any question that comes to mind. Whilst making sure I was pushing myself and developing, everyone involved in my training had gone out of their way to make sure the pace was suitable, to ensure I received everything I needed, and simply to ask me how things were going. They have definitely helped me become the best teacher that I could possibly be.” – Sucheta Handa, Head of Science
“CTTC was the best training provider I could’ve asked for to prepare me for a career in teaching. The support I received was invaluable, and the structure of the course allows you to gain knowledge in all aspects of the profession. By the end of the year, I felt fully prepared to begin my ECT years.” – Nerisse Appleby, English teacher
