The Interview Process
After receiving an application, careful consideration is given to the application by a CTTC Director.
If the applicant meets the entry requirements, they will be shortlisted and invited to interview. Candidates will be asked to bring original documents such as GCSE certificates, degree certificate and proof of identity.
The interview process may take place in the CTTC training centre, at a local school (or a combination of both), or online.
Candidates will be asked to:
- Primary: Teach a 10-minute lesson on a topic of your choice to a small group (approximately 6) children. The candidate can choose the year group of the children they would like to teach.
- Secondary: Present a lesson plan/resource they would teach to a year 7 class in their subject specialism.
All candidates will be required to complete a maths and English task to demonstrate they have an expected level of maths, and they can communicate in accurately and effectively in writing.
Candidates will have an individual interview with two members of CTTC staff. Questions will be framed around the applicant’s previous relevant experience, skills, knowledge of the curriculum, safeguarding, and aptitude for becoming a teacher in the future.
Candidates are free to leave after their interview. CTTC aim to let candidates know the outcome of the day within 24 hours. Successful candidates will then be invited to attend our induction held in July.
