Our recruitment and selection process is tailored to ensure we make informed choices for both applicants and our placement schools.
After receiving your application, it will be reviewed by one of our CTTC Directors. If you progress to the next stage, you will be invited to an interview.
Candidates will be asked to:
- Primary: Teach a 10-minute lesson on a topic of your choice to a small group (approximately 6) children. The candidate can choose the year group of the children they would like to teach.
- Secondary: Present a lesson plan/resource they would teach to a year 7 class in their subject specialism.
All candidates will be required to complete a Maths and English task to demonstrate they have an expected level of maths, and they can communicate in accurately and effectively in writing.
Candidates will have an individual interview with two members of CTTC staff.
Questions will be framed around the applicant’s previous relevant experience, skills, knowledge of the curriculum, safeguarding, and aptitude for becoming a teacher in the future.
Candidates are free to leave after their interview. We aim to let candidates know the outcome of the day within 24 hours. Successful candidates will then be invited to attend our induction day held in July.
It is essential that all candidates bring the following items to interview:
- Photographic identification (preferably your driver’s licence and/or passport) along with your birth certificate.
- Official confirmation of any name changes, such as marriage or deed poll certificate.
- Your original GCSE certificates (or certified statements of results) for English and Mathematics (and Science for Primary candidates).
- Your original degree certificate (if appropriate).
