CTTC Celebrates 18 Months of Collaboration on the Diversity in ITT Project
CTTC has been proud to contribute to the Diversity in Initial Teacher Training project over the past 18 months, working collaboratively with the Chartered College of Teaching, Chiltern Learning Trust and Mission 44 to support greater diversity and inclusion within the teaching profession.
This week Christine Wager and Anshu Chaturvedi from CTTC joined colleagues involved in the project for an evening in Covent Garden, providing a valuable opportunity to reflect on the work undertaken so far, celebrate the progress made and look ahead to the next stages of this important initiative.
The Diversity in ITT project brings together organisations and professionals who share a commitment to addressing barriers to entering the teaching profession and ensuring that initial teacher training is increasingly accessible, inclusive and representative of the diverse communities that schools serve. Over the past 18 months, CTTC has welcomed the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from across the sector, sharing experiences, reflecting on existing practice and exploring ways in which ITT providers can strengthen their approaches to diversity, equity and inclusion.
As a school-centred initial teacher training provider, working in partnership with over 100 schools across Essex and Suffolk, CTTC recognises the important role that teacher training organisations play in attracting, recruiting and supporting individuals from a wide range of backgrounds into the profession. Participation in the project has provided valuable opportunities for professional dialogue, collaboration and reflection, helping to inform CTTC’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that aspiring teachers feel welcomed, valued and supported throughout their journey into teaching.
The evening in London was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, exchange ideas and celebrate the relationships developed through the project. Importantly, the work does not end here, with CTTC looking forward to continuing its involvement and building on the learning and collaboration established over the past 18 months.
A special thank you to Anais Justin from Chiltern Learning Trust and Yamina Bibi, Project Lead at the Chartered College of Teaching and Chiltern Learning Trust, for organising the evening and bringing everyone together. CTTC is delighted to continue contributing to this important work and supporting a shared ambition to develop a teaching workforce that reflects and celebrates the diversity of the communities it serves.
