From Artefacts to Art: Inspiring Primary Teaching
Our Primary trainees have recently taken part in a series of rich, hands-on foundation subject training sessions, designed to build both subject knowledge and confidence in the classroom.
In art, trainees worked alongside local artist and teacher Matt Mackman, exploring a range of practical techniques and approaches to teaching art. The session provided opportunities to experiment creatively, while also considering how to structure high-quality art lessons that enable pupils to express themselves and develop their skills over time.
In history, we were delighted to welcome Lynette Allison from Colchester and Ipswich Museums, who led an engaging session on object handling. Trainees explored a variety of Roman artefacts, gaining first-hand experience of how historical objects can be used to spark curiosity, deepen understanding and bring the past to life for pupils.
These sessions reflect our commitment to providing a broad, practical and evidence-informed curriculum, ensuring trainees are well-equipped to deliver engaging and meaningful learning experiences across the primary curriculum.
