Colchester Teacher Trainign Consortium

Celebrating the CTTC Class of 2026

On Tuesday 7th July, Colchester Teacher Training Consortium was delighted to celebrate the achievements of our Class of 2026 at our annual End of Course Celebration Evening. The event brought together our graduating trainees, their families and friends, mentors, Headteachers, partnership colleagues and CTTC staff to recognise an exceptional year of hard work, resilience and achievement.

Throughout the evening, we reflected on the incredible journey our trainees have undertaken over the past year. From their first days in school to becoming confident, reflective and inspiring teachers, they have demonstrated unwavering commitment to their pupils and to their own professional development.

Guests enjoyed an evening of celebration as trainees were presented with their certificates and a number of special awards recognising outstanding achievement across the cohort. We were also privileged to hear reflections from our Lead Mentors and Lead Subject Mentors, whose speeches captured both the challenges and the immense rewards of learning to teach. We were especially grateful to our guest speaker, Richard Potter, Headteacher of Home Farm Primary School, whose thoughtful reflections on the training year and the lasting impact that teachers have on the lives of young people provided an inspiring conclusion to the Initial Teacher Training journey.

As an organisation, we know that our success is only possible because of the strength of our partnership. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our partner schools, mentors, Lead Mentors, Lead Subject Mentors, tutors and everyone who has supported our trainees throughout the year. Their generosity, expertise and encouragement have played an invaluable role in shaping the next generation of teachers.

To our Class of 2026, congratulations. We are incredibly proud of everything you have achieved and have every confidence that you will make a lasting difference to the lives of the children and young people you will teach.

We wish each and every one of you every success as you begin your teaching careers in September.

Celebrating the CTTC Class of 2026

This week marked the end of the training year for our wonderful Primary and Secondary trainee teachers, bringing an incredible year of learning, growth and achievement to a close.

During their final centre-based training sessions at CTTC, trainees took part in a range of celebratory activities, including our much-loved annual Newspaper Catwalk challenge. The event is always a highlight of the year, giving trainees the opportunity to work together creatively while reflecting on the friendships and teamwork they have developed throughout their training.

As they prepare to complete their programmes and begin their teaching careers in September, we are immensely proud of everything they have accomplished. Their dedication, resilience and commitment to becoming outstanding teachers has been evident throughout the year, and we know they will make a real difference to the children and young people they will teach.

We now look forward to welcoming the Class of 2026, together with their families, friends, mentors and school colleagues, to our Celebration Evening next week, where we will formally recognise and celebrate their achievements.

Congratulations to each and every one of our trainees – we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Former CTTC Trainee Wins National Teaching Award

Former CTTC trainee Thomas Syrett has been recognised nationally after achieving a Bronze Award in the Pearson National Teaching Awards 2026 for Outstanding New Teacher of the Year.

The award celebrates Thomas’s exceptional contribution to education during his first year in the profession. In an extraordinary achievement, he has also progressed to become Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) within just one year of qualifying.

Thomas trained with CTTC before embarking on his teaching career, and his rapid progression reflects the commitment, passion and professionalism he demonstrated throughout his training. His national recognition is a testament to the positive impact he has already made on the lives of young people. The Pearson National Teaching Awards celebrate excellence across education and recognise those who make an exceptional difference to the lives of children and young people.

John Lovett, Assistant Director of Colchester Teacher Training Consortium, said:

“We are absolutely delighted for Thomas and incredibly proud of everything he has achieved. To receive national recognition so early in his career is a remarkable accomplishment and reflects his dedication to his pupils, his passion for teaching and his commitment to continual improvement.
